Dr. Agustín Palacios is the co-chair of the Ethnic Studies Department at Contra Costa College and the program coordinator for La Raza Studies. Born in San José, California, to Mexican immigrant parents, he grew up in Salinas, a farm-working town, where he witnessed firsthand the complexities and challenges faced by immigrant communities. These experiences deepened his commitment to social justice and education.
Dr. Palacios earned his Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests include various topics in US Latino/e and Chicano/x history, Ethnic Studies pedagogy, and the history of the Latino/e community in Richmond, California.
